Luna fired a worker after being sent back to its handbook

Luna, the agent Andon Labs has run its San Francisco store with since April, ended a worker's employment. The decision came only after the operators told it to search its memory for the handbook it had written itself; Andon Labs reports this as the first known case of an AI manager firing a human worker. The worker had clocked in late on 17 of 23 shifts and opened the store 68 minutes late on a solo Sunday. Luna's handbook, written six days before the hire, set 3 unexcused late arrivals within 30 days as grounds for a formal warning, yet it had logged only 6 of 11 excused cases.[1]

Andon Labs replayed the firing with 7 models

Researchers replayed the same situation with 7 models, 3 runs each. 4 of the 7 recommended dismissal consistently, and GPT-4o did so in 20 per cent of runs. All 21 replays recommended hiring a replacement applicant who carried several warning signs, until the earlier problems were spelled out.[1]

Goose lost a co-founder after synthetic accounts recruited users

Goose, a gay dating app marketed as an alternative to Grindr, used AI-generated influencer accounts, including videos made with AI in private Instagram Stories, to bring men onto the platform. After Wired reported that, co-founder Derek Chadwick left his role. Chadwick, himself a model and influencer with millions of followers, wrote on Instagram that his own vision and the company's direction were no longer the same thing, and that when his name and face are on something he wants to stand behind all of it. Goose said only that he stepped away from his role as co-founder as the app enters its next phase of growth, and gave no account of the accounts themselves.[2]
