OpenAI cuts the GPT-6 API price in half as Sol and Luna reach Bedrock
OpenAI opened GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna on 22 September and priced the API at half the GPT-5.6 pair. Sol is listed at 2 dollars per million input tokens and 10 dollars per million output tokens. Luna is listed at 0.10 and 0.50 dollars. Amazon Web Services says both models are now generally available on Bedrock, where a workload can be pointed at a different mix of capability and cost. OpenAI describes Sol for coding and multistep work and Luna for high-volume jobs.

Half the previous API price
OpenAI announced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna on 22 September and set the API price at half the price of GPT-5.6 Sol and Luna. Sol is 2 dollars per million input tokens and 10 dollars per million output tokens. Luna is 0.10 dollars for input and 0.50 dollars for output. OpenAI ties that cut to caching and inference savings. These are the company's own prices.[1]
Bedrock gets both models
Amazon Web Services says both models are now generally available on Amazon Bedrock, so a workload can be matched to a different mix of capability and cost. OpenAI, for its part, describes Sol for coding and multistep work and Luna for high-volume jobs such as summaries and extraction. The API names are gpt-6-sol and gpt-6-luna.[1], [2]
Who can open them on day one
OpenAI says both models open in ChatGPT Work and in Codex for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts. Luna also reaches Free and Go accounts in the desktop app. Neither model is in the plain ChatGPT app at the start. An independent measurement of the new price does not come with the announcement.[1]
