Anthropic has released Claude Haiku 5.5, and AWS is offering it through Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS. Bedrock access connects the model to existing identity, monitoring and data residency controls. AWS lists regional and global inference profiles. Organizations can use the new release within their cloud arrangements, while advertised model-performance comparisons remain claims attributed to Anthropic.

AWS opens two routes to the new Haiku release
Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5 on October 7, and AWS announced access through Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS the same day. Haiku is the smaller-model line within Claude. The new release updates Haiku 4.5. Organizations using AWS can reach the model through its cloud services, while AWS attributes the advertised model-performance comparisons to Anthropic rather than presenting independent test results.[1], [2]
Bedrock access carries existing cloud controls
Amazon Bedrock, AWS’s service for accessing AI models, offers the new model alongside identity, monitoring and data residency controls. AWS lists US, European, Australian, Japanese and global inference profiles for Bedrock. These are routes for processing model requests within the service. Claude Platform on AWS supplies another access path through the same cloud provider, so the announcement covers two offered services rather than a single interface.[1]
Effort controls accompany repetitive-work features
AWS describes Haiku 5.5 as suited to quick, repetitive work such as classification, summaries and smaller coding assignments. The release includes effort controls for adjusting the amount of reasoning assigned to a task. AWS also describes pairing it with Opus 5.5: the larger model plans work while Haiku handles bounded assignments. That division is the provider’s proposed workflow, with the release following the earlier Opus and Sonnet upgrades.[1]
