Claude Ultra removes verified accounts’ five-hour usage cap
Anthropic has renamed its Max 20x subscription Ultra and removed the five-hour usage limit for verified accounts. Weekly allowances remain, while unverified accounts retain a temporary session restriction. Existing subscribers move automatically at the same price. Verification uses account and payment history, so phone-number verification alone does not remove the temporary limit.

Ultra succeeds Max 20x automatically
Anthropic has renamed its individual Max 20x subscription Ultra. Existing subscribers move automatically without a price change, and verified Ultra accounts lose the five-hour usage limit. The change allows those users to spend their weekly allowance without the shorter session restriction. Weekly usage limits remain in place, so the removal changes when that allowance can be used.[1], [2]
Account history determines verification
Verification happens automatically using factors such as account and payment history to limit fraud and abuse. Accounts awaiting verification keep a temporary limit that is removed once verification completes. Confirming a phone number at checkout is a separate step and does not lift this restriction. In usage settings, the absence of a Current session bar indicates that an Ultra account is verified.[1]
Weekly ceilings still cover model use
Ultra has a weekly allowance across models and a separate weekly limit for Fable. Anthropic may apply other capacity-management restrictions to models or features and does not guarantee uninterrupted service. The individual plan also includes Claude Code access, background multistep work and monthly credits for the Claude application programming interface. Team and Enterprise remain separate organizational subscriptions.[1]
