DeepSeek releases a team-directed coding research prototype

DeepSeek has shared an experimental coding agent that handles requests within a single GitHub repository and returns results to the originating conversation. Team-written rules and authorized requests govern when it acts. The MIT-licensed code grew from internal development, but the public version differs and comes with an explicit warning that it needs review and adaptation before wider use.

A coding agent works from team requests

DeepSeek has made dsh-superagent public as experimental software for teams developing code in one GitHub repository. The release, first committed on October 31, runs through the company's DeepSeek Harness framework. It watches conversations on GitHub and can also connect to Feishu, a workplace communication service. Work begins with an authorized request or permission supplied by a rule the team has written.[1]

Results return to the original conversation

Each assigned job gets a separate session and working directory. When it finishes, the agent answers in the thread where the assignment began; it can propose a code change through a pull request. A browser-accessible panel highlights jobs awaiting a person's attention. DeepSeek describes reducing demands on the team as a design objective and warns that an agent addressing everyone can also create distractions for everyone.[1]

Public code remains a research prototype

The MIT-licensed publication was adapted from the developers' own working system. It differs from their internal code, and several ideas discussed in the accompanying essay have yet to be implemented. DeepSeek cautions that engineering practices and coding style may be uneven and bugs may remain. It asks others to inspect and adapt the software before using it elsewhere, explicitly excluding production readiness and official-product status.[1]
