Indian robot maker Genrobotics and the country's reserve force, the Territorial Army, signed a memorandum covering robotics research, technology trials, training and capability development. Signed at the TA 2.0 Symposium in Kolkata, it sets a framework for work on hazardous environments, disaster response, confined-space operations, critical-infrastructure inspection and AI-enabled remote sensing.

Germany ordered 35 more Schakal infantry fighting vehicles for NATO's eastern flank, calling the type the backbone of new medium forces built to move fast and fight heavy opponents. Foreign and defence ministers of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will meet in Istanbul on 31 August for the first committee under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement. Japan's Ministry of Finance reported 15,399.3 billion yen of currency intervention between 30 July and 26 August. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended July's joint yen purchases, saying disorderly yen markets can raise borrowing costs for American households and businesses. The ministry total provides the official record of the operation's scale, while Bessent supplied his own rationale for the intervention.
