Redwood's watt count still sits on a Jetson projection
Architect Labs' preprint reports 1.75 times the throughput at 1.9 times lower power against a Jetson Orin Nano on Samsung 8 nm; there is no independent measurement. Lambda borrowed $1 billion the same week for Nvidia chips it will lease to Microsoft—design speed and financed silicon do not sit on the same delivery rung.
The automated researcher reaches only as far as its benchmark list
Anthropic's automated alignment researcher searches for methods inside the benchmark set it keeps for 10 categories of failure. That is where the gain comes from, and it moves the scarce resource from researcher hours to the coverage of that set.
The magazine at Myla was gone in a night; interceptors take years to replace
Two ways a stockpile disappears: a warehouse at Myla detonating outside Kyiv, and interceptors moved out of Europe and Asia toward the Middle East.
The short end believed Warsh, the long end waited
A 14 basis point jump at the two-year against 7 at the ten-year prices the next few meetings rather than a higher long-run inflation path. The S&P 500's 0.25 per cent loss shows equity holders have not yet weighed the same change in the discount rate.
The summary opens without you asking, and the links move down
Google now opens its AI summary in full on some searches. The one thing a user can verify is the extra scrolling, while the criterion, an off switch and the scope all stay with Google.

At D-Wave Quantum second-quarter sales stayed flat year on year at just above 3 million dollars while the operating loss widened from 26.5 million dollars to 54.7 million dollars and shares fell 16.6 per cent in the week. Which sector's deficit is financing Canada's 0.8 per cent growth?
Statistics Canada data show exports jumping 3.6 per cent in the second quarter while inventory withdrawal stripped 1.3 percentage points from growth and the household saving rate held at 3.7 per cent. RYAM's Témiscaming shutdown puts a separate line under how the tariff channel hits production.
13 detectors split after editing as Cara's scraper co-builds a protection tool
A preprint published on arXiv on 29 August reported that 13 AI detectors showed false-positive rates from 0.0 percent to 100.0 percent after professional editing. Cara, run by photographer Jingna Zhang, faced three major scrapes from 13 August; the first scraper said he regretted it and agreed to work with Zhang on an open-source tool to protect artists. Content authenticity was contested in measurement tools and on artist platforms in the same week.
713,564 prompts show training did not help use as Alpha School plans 50 campuses
A preprint published on arXiv on 29 August examined 713,564 prompts from about 4,000 employees at one firm over eight months; formal training showed no lasting gain. Alpha School, which hands most teaching to AI software, plans to reach about 50 campuses this autumn and to test the model in public schools in Houston and Springfield. Corporate usage data and school expansion put the promise of teaching with AI to the test at different scales.
93 local governments drop Flock cameras as Alpha School plans 50 campuses
Data compiled by Oakland-based Secure Justice shows 93 local governments cut ties with Flock Safety cameras in August 2026 alone, and an average of three localities a day halted contracts over the last 30 days. In the same period Alpha School, which hands most teaching to AI software, plans to reach about 50 campuses, 27 newly announced, and to test the model in public schools in Houston and Springfield. Flock cancellations accelerated while Alpha School expanded its campus network.
