MIKTA has chosen its common ground; delivery is the next test
Five middle powers have chosen common institutional targets. Their next measure is whether shared language becomes a visible joint step.
MiMo-V2.6 opens the weights and moves the bottleneck to hardware
MiMo-V2.6's weights, report, and training tools create an inspectable exit path. The Pro model's 524 billion parameters require that path to be measured together with its hardware cost.
Qatar and Pakistan keep two clocks running on the Iran war
Naqvi's 6th Tehran visit and Al Ansari's economic proposal show two middle powers holding a short diplomatic path and a longer bargain at the same time.
RetroChimera's 10-molecule test measures one part of the laboratory decision
Chemists' preference for a synthesis route shows that the model is closer to chemical judgment. Completing the route in a laboratory, the time spent, and failed reactions remain outside this measurement.
Temporary gains in AutoZone's margin put the capital buffer under scrutiny
Tariff refunds and a non-cash LIFO benefit supplied a large part of the gross-margin gain. With share repurchases continuing, the 2.5 adjusted debt ratio is the key measure of when the buffer could narrow.
The cheaper Opus call leaves the check on the desk
Claude Opus 5.5's lower serving cost is booked to the buyer. In Anthropic's own evaluation, older models finished some tasks. A code migration finished in a day is not a headcount count.
The micro-robot's motor is the water around its object
A peer-reviewed study drives flexible micro-objects with flow at an air-liquid interface and uses FlowNet for bidirectional field prediction. Open-loop tests show a working prototype; closed-loop error correction is the next threshold.
20 countries and the EU propose a global AI oversight body
Twenty countries and the European Union called for advanced AI to remain under human oversight, comply with international law and face common standards and independent evaluation. Their proposal includes exploring an international institution that could set standards, enable verification and convene governments when capability thresholds are crossed. The United States and China did not join, leaving the two leading AI powers outside the initiative.
A 3.05 °C Pacific anomaly is a late-September high on one scale only
Scientific American reports that Jeff Berardelli put the equatorial Pacific sea-surface anomaly at 3.05 °C, above the 3.02 °C anomaly of 2015. Kim Wood said a measure that includes background ocean warming has not reached an all-time high. The same reading is the hottest for late September. India Today reports that on 19 September a key Pacific region reached 3.05 °C above average, in a post it quotes as passing the November 2015 mark. The degree figure is shared. The label is not.
A DNA gap became a transcription switch activated by its target sequence
Researchers developed programmable base-gap switches that stop RNA polymerase until matching target DNA fills the engineered gap. Nature Sensors and Scienmag report that the system can distinguish single-nucleotide differences and produce different protein outputs for pathogen and cancer-associated DNA variants. Laboratory validation with some clinical samples demonstrates the approach’s sensitivity; it is not yet an approved diagnostic test or a routine clinical tool.
