Twenty-four shorts compete in Palencia
Terroríficamente Cortos, the International Fantastic Film Festival of Castilla y León in Spain, will hold its fifteenth edition in Palencia from 30 October to 4 November. The organisers selected 24 short films from 385 submissions received from different countries. The competition includes productions from Spain, France, Sweden, Hungary and Portugal.[1], [2]
Directors, actors and technical crew members will meet the audience after screenings. The announced actors include Diego Anido, Ruth Díaz, Eva Isanta, Fernando Cayo and Antonio Pagudo. Filmmaker Cristian Beteta will also attend: he received the festival’s jury prize in 2025 and subsequently won the Goya for best fiction short film.[1]
Tesis returns in a restored screening
The feature programme will mark the thirtieth anniversary of Alejandro Amenábar’s Tesis with a screening of its restored 4K version. The tribute follows the festival’s celebration of El Día de la Bestia a year earlier. Tesis is joined by a preview of Crawlers, the new film by director Ángel Gómez.[1]
Buddy will be the closing film. It reaches the Palencia programme after a Sundance screening and an award at Sitges. The festival’s film screenings will take place at Cines Ortega in Palencia. On Monday, 2 November, screenings will also be held in Guardo through a collaboration with the music association AMGU based in Guardo.[1]
Photographs accompany ten prize categories
The accompanying photography competition is in its eleventh year. More than 100 photographs submitted from different countries have been reduced to a selection of 22 works. The selected images will be exhibited at Lecrác in Palencia between 26 October and 8 November, extending beyond the festival’s final day of film screenings.[1]
Sociograph, a company that studies audience responses, will again analyse spectators’ reactions to help determine the prize for the most impactful short. Across the short-film competition, the festival will distribute more than 3,000 euros in awards spread over ten separate prize categories.[1]
