One Wonders is due in April

Jim James, the singer and songwriter of the band My Morning Jacket, has announced his first memoir. Publisher Simon & Schuster plans to release One Wonders on 13 April 2027. The book recounts his life and music, including his upbringing in Louisville in the United States. James will read the audiobook himself; hardcover and electronic editions are also planned.[1], [2]

James writes about asking for support

The memoir covers the difficulties of full-time musical work as well as James’s experiences of alcoholism, depression and recovery. In his announcement, he linked writing about his life to progress he had made in therapy over recent years. He recalled older generations keeping their private joys and struggles to themselves, and said he hoped that discussing his own experiences could help other people ask for support.[1]

A solo album precedes the memoir

James released Wowed Out in August, his first solo album in eight years. A short concert series supporting the album begins in his hometown of Louisville on 28 November at the Kentucky Performing Arts Brown Theatre. Further appearances are scheduled in Chicago, New York, Boston, Boulder and Glendale before the end of the year.[1]
