Century’s HistoryMaker acquisition triples its Dallas–Fort Worth community count

Century Communities acquired substantially all of HistoryMaker Homes’ homebuilding assets, expanding its presence in Dallas–Fort Worth. The completed transaction triples Century’s community count in the market. HistoryMaker’s team is joining a combined division in Grapevine, while existing buyers are to keep working with their local team and construction schedules are to continue.

A completed acquisition adds local projects

US homebuilder Century Communities acquired substantially all the assets of HMH Lifestyles, the company operating as HistoryMaker Homes. HistoryMaker builds exclusively in Dallas–Fort Worth, a metropolitan area in Texas in the United States. Century said the acquisition triples its community count there and expands its pipeline of building lots.[1], [2]

The purchase was completed. Its price and the number of communities and lots added were not disclosed. Century chief executive Rob Francescon said the transaction adds local talent and land positions to support growth in the market.[1]

Grapevine becomes the base for a combined division

Century plans to combine its existing Dallas–Fort Worth operations with HistoryMaker in one division based in Grapevine, within the same metropolitan area. HistoryMaker’s division leaders and employees are to join Century. The buyer said construction, sales and home closings would continue on existing schedules, and buyers already under contract would continue working with their local HistoryMaker team.[1]

Land-development partners retain independent ownership

HistoryMaker was founded in Fort Worth in 1949 and has remained family-owned across five generations. Its sister company Jabez Development, which develops residential land, will remain independently owned. Century said Jabez would finish land development on selected communities for it, with further local opportunities to be considered together. ONM Living, the sister company building homes for rent, will also retain independent ownership.[1]

Vestra Advisors served as HistoryMaker’s exclusive financial adviser on the acquisition.[1]
