Federal funding goes to two Sarnia companies

Canada is providing nearly 5 million Canadian dollars to AlumaPower Corporation and Promart Industrial Products in Sarnia, a city in Ontario, Canada. FedDev Ontario, the federal economic development agency for southern Ontario, announced the contributions on 9 October. The support funds separate generator-development and manufacturing-modernisation projects through defence investment and tariff-response programmes.[1], [2]

AlumaPower receives funding for aluminium-fuelled generators

Generator developer AlumaPower receives 4 million Canadian dollars through the Regional Defence Investment Initiative, Canada’s regional defence investment programme, for a project costing 8 million Canadian dollars. The company aims to commercialise aluminium-fuelled generator systems. Its technology uses recycled aluminium to supply portable, long-duration power without a grid connection.[1]

Founded in 2017, AlumaPower targets applications including defence, industrial operations, microgrids and vehicle charging. The agency says the investment is intended to improve productivity and operational resilience and support access to international defence supply chains.[1]

Promart upgrades equipment to diversify its markets

Industrial fabricator Promart receives nearly 900,000 Canadian dollars through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative for a modernisation project costing almost 2 million Canadian dollars. It is purchasing equipment and upgrading facilities to improve capacity, precision and productivity. Operating since 1985, Promart supplies structural steel, metal products, modular assemblies, coatings and field installation to petrochemical, nuclear, energy and manufacturing customers.[1], [2]
