Cuts reach product and business teams

Netflix confirmed approximately 1,000 job cuts, covering around 6 per cent of its workforce.[1], [2]

The streaming company’s product and technology teams are affected, alongside legal and human resources. Netflix had approximately 16,000 full-time employees at the end of 2025. Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, the company’s co-CEOs, described a reprioritization in a memo to staff, saying the company could not give every activity equal weight.[1]

Annual financial forecast remains in place

Netflix said it remained on track to meet its full-year financial forecast. It described continued investment in high-impact areas and efforts to improve management efficiency. The company generated revenue of 45.2 billion dollars in 2025, including advertising revenue exceeding 1.5 billion dollars. It has raised subscription prices and developed a lower-priced advertising-supported service.[1]

Live programming and games compete for viewing time

Netflix is investing in live events, sports programming, games, children’s content and artificial intelligence features. It has also arranged video podcasts and short-form programming with creators and redesigned its mobile application. These investments accompany competition with YouTube, TikTok and Instagram for audience attention. Research cited by TechCrunch put YouTube ahead of Netflix in average daily viewing time in 2025.[1]
