Robert Half grows profit as staffing services return to growth
Robert Half increased third-quarter net income from 43 million dollars to 50 million dollars. Overall revenue remained close to its year-earlier level as contract staffing and permanent placement revenues increased, while consulting subsidiary Protiviti declined. Management said talent solutions returned to adjusted annual growth for the first time since 2022. Total earnings and revenue for the first nine months remained below the preceding year.

Profit improves on nearly flat revenue
The staffing and consulting group Robert Half increased third-quarter earnings per share to 0.49 dollars from 0.43 dollars. Its quarterly revenue was close to the corresponding year-earlier level. The results cover the period ending 30 September and were released on 22 October. Net income reached 50 million dollars, compared with 43 million dollars a year earlier.[1], [2]
Consolidated revenue came to 1,359 million dollars, against 1,354 million dollars previously. Management characterized total revenue as roughly unchanged on an adjusted basis. Contract talent solutions generated 758,830,000 dollars of revenue, up from 746,223,000 dollars. Permanent placement also expanded, reaching 116,946,000 dollars compared with 110,125,000 dollars in the corresponding period.[1]
Talent solutions return to adjusted annual growth
Chief executive M. Keith Waddell said talent solutions recorded adjusted annual revenue growth of 2 per cent, the first positive comparison since 2022. He described hiring activity as gradually improving. Waddell also reported encouraging demand signals in consulting for risk and compliance. These assessments accompanied the company’s own results and concerned the business conditions management observed.[1]
Protiviti, Robert Half’s consulting subsidiary, posted revenue of 483,521,000 dollars, below the earlier 498,129,000 dollars. It provides internal audit, risk, business and technology consulting. The group eliminates transactions between its business segments in arriving at consolidated revenue. Robert Half’s staffing growth and the consulting subsidiary’s decline therefore accompanied an almost unchanged overall revenue total.[1]
Nine-month totals remain below last year
For the first nine months, Robert Half earned 90 million dollars, down from 101 million dollars. Revenue for that period decreased to 3,996 million dollars from 4,076 million dollars. Earnings per share were 0.90 dollars rather than 1.01 dollars. The longer reporting period still showed declining revenue and profit despite the improvement recorded during the third quarter.[1]
The group supplies contract personnel and permanent placements across finance, accounting, technology, marketing, legal work and administrative support, alongside executive search. Robert Half said short-term contracts represent a substantial part of its operations. Its disclosure cautioned against treating previous results as a reliable predictor of future revenue, reflecting the contract structure of its staffing business.[1]
