Jackson takes over on 30 November

US parcel and freight carrier FedEx appointed Jamere Jackson as its next chief financial officer, effective 30 November. He will also become an executive vice president. Jackson succeeds Claude Russ, who has held the finance role temporarily since 1 June following John Dietrich’s departure. FedEx announced the appointment on 26 October.[1], [2]

AutoZone finance chief brings earlier corporate experience

Jackson joins from auto-parts retailer AutoZone, where he has been chief financial officer since January 2021, overseeing finance and store development. Before that, he served as executive vice president and finance chief of car-rental company Hertz Global Holdings. He also led finance at measurement company Nielsen Holdings and held leadership roles at General Electric, including a finance post in its oil and gas business.[1], [2]

The appointment accompanies delivery-network changes

Jackson also sits on medicines company Eli Lilly’s board and chairs its audit committee. FedEx chief executive Raj Subramaniam said his financial and operational experience would support profit growth and investment decisions. The carrier is pursuing its Network 2.0 programme to combine its Ground and Express delivery networks and streamline airline operations. Russ has managed the interim transition while the company selected a permanent finance chief.[1], [2]
