Ukraine's port approaches, regional strikes and a paused channel
Accounts from Ukraine record attacks on port approaches and civilian areas while Kyiv says talks involving United States partners await an American delegation.

July attacks leave port approaches sparse
Ukraine's port administration has counted 57 attacks on civilian vessels during July, according to reporting from Odesa. Of those attacks, 22 took place at sea. The same account records 67 hits on port infrastructure. The reported effect is visible in the approaches to three ports: Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi are described as almost empty of ships. The figures separate attacks on vessels from hits on infrastructure, and they also distinguish the sea from the port area. They do not provide a complete count of all shipping in the region or assign a single cause to every absent ship. What they do provide is a monthly tally and a description of the approaches as vessels became scarce around the three named ports.[1]
Overnight claims follow deaths in two regions
Another report concerns the human impact of attacks in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions. Ukrainian officials said three people were killed in Balakliya in Kharkiv and three more in Sumy. They said at least 19 people were wounded in Sumy. Russia's Ministry of Defence gave a separate account of overnight activity, saying its air defences intercepted and destroyed 605 Ukrainian drones. The report keeps the casualty figures attached to Ukrainian officials and the drone number attached to Russia's defence ministry. It does not reconcile the two accounts into a single assessment of the fighting. Together, the figures identify deaths and injuries in two Ukrainian regions as well as the Russian ministry's stated tally for drones during the same night.[2]
Kyiv says the talks are waiting
The diplomatic account is narrower. Ukraine's acting foreign minister Andrii Sybiha said, according to RBC-Ukraine, that negotiations involving United States partners were currently on hold. He said Kyiv was waiting for the arrival of the American negotiating team. The report does not describe a settlement, a new meeting date or a change in either side's stated position. Its immediate fact is a pause and a pending arrival. The port report counts 57 attacks, including 22 at sea, and 67 infrastructure hits, while the regional-strike report gives figures for one night; neither supplies the status of the talks. Each report identifies a different institution: the port administration, Ukrainian officials, Russia's defence ministry or Ukraine's acting foreign minister. That places the diplomatic channel on a timetable different from the reported attacks and port data. The three accounts therefore show events occurring in the same period: a constrained maritime approach, reported deaths and injuries, and a negotiation described by Kyiv as waiting. None of the reports establishes that the attacks, the vessel counts or the delegation's arrival caused one another.[3]
