Yemen’s fragile pause is eroding again
According to dueling statements reported by Al Jazeera, government forces said they carried out 81 attacks on Houthi positions in the last 24 hours, while the Houthis said they struck two targets in Saudi Arabia’s Najran province with drones. The report notes that there was no immediate Saudi confirmation, but stresses that even the competing claims are eroding an already fragile lull and pushing Yemen closer to full-scale war again.[1]
Hours of waves around Kyiv left heavy civilian damage
The Associated Press reports that Kyiv and its surrounding region were hit overnight by waves of missiles and drones, with officials saying at least 16 people were killed and about 40 were wounded. The report says Russia has intensified ballistic pressure on the capital while exploiting Ukraine’s shortage of Patriot interceptors, leaving heavy damage across civilian infrastructure including apartment blocks, a school, a children’s hospital, and a kindergarten.[2]
Pyongyang sent a missile salvo despite scaled-back drills
According to the Associated Press, South Korea’s military said about 10 short-range ballistic missiles were launched from the Pyongyang area toward eastern waters. The launches came just a day after Washington scaled back joint drills with Seoul. The report says Trump defended the move as an effort to restart diplomacy while Kim Yo Jong still called the exercises provocative, and the salvo showed Pyongyang trying to widen its bargaining room through military display.[3]
