The file includes the May flotilla interception

Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said his ministry had asked the interior ministry to seek an Interpol red notice for Benjamin Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch. The file includes the interception in international waters of the Global Sumud flotilla, which sailed from Turkey towards Gaza in May. According to the ministry, the charges include crimes against humanity, genocide, torture, deprivation of liberty and the hijacking of transport vehicles. About 430 activists aboard roughly 50 vessels were detained in the Mediterranean, taken to an Israeli prison and later expelled.[1]

Turkish and Israeli statements turn into reciprocal accusations

Netanyahu's office accused Turkey of hypocrisy and called Recep Tayyip Erdogan an antisemitic dictator. Erdogan's office called the remarks outrageous ravings and cheap election politics; it accused the government of Israel of evading accountability. France, Italy and Australia also opened judicial proceedings over the flotilla interception.[1]

Former diplomats call for joint action from Paris and London

A letter published in Le Monde and signed by 102 former French and British diplomats called on both governments to uphold international law together in the Palestinian territories. The signatories include former British ambassadors to the United Nations and former Middle East directors at the French foreign ministry. The letter cites France and the United Kingdom's permanent seats on the Security Council and their recognition of a Palestinian state in 2025. The signatories accuse Israel of seeking to destroy the prospect of an independent Palestinian state and of disregarding international legal rulings.[2]
