Macron and Mohammed bin Salman sign energy, defence and artificial-intelligence deals at the Elysee
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's official visit brought a set of agreements on energy, artificial intelligence, aviation finance and defence. The most visible item was a 6 billion euro amusement park project near Paris. The deal was signed at the Elysee Palace on Monday. The project is to build three parks near Cergy-Pontoise, about 30 km north-west of Paris, and is expected to create some 22,000 jobs, with Qiddiya, the investment arm of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, running it. Macron said the investment would create a new global destination on the scale of Disneyland Paris.[1]
The visit also brought contracts of 434 million dollars and 580 million dollars
The visit also brought contracts with French companies worth 434 million dollars and 580 million dollars. The package covers energy, artificial intelligence, aviation finance and defence, with the amusement park the most visible item on that list. Qiddiya, the investment arm of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, is to run the three parks near Cergy-Pontoise.[1]
The Houthis said the Bahri tanker Amzan was struck off Yanbu; the company named no reason
A Houthi military spokesperson said on Monday that Amzan, a tanker belonging to the Saudi national shipping company Bahri, was targeted off the coast of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia with a ballistic missile, describing it as part of the group's decision to ban maritime navigation by what it called the Saudi enemy. Bahri confirmed that the vessel had been involved in a maritime incident in the Red Sea, said all crew members were safe, and did not name a reason. The company said it remained in contact with the vessel and was coordinating closely with the relevant authorities. There was no confirmation from Saudi officials, and a question Al Jazeera put to the foreign ministry went unanswered. UK Maritime Trade Operations had said earlier in the day that a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile about 117 km west of Yanbu. In recent weeks the Houthis killed seven people at a Yemeni port, targeted a refinery in Saudi Arabia, and killed at least six people and wounded ten in a strike on a cargo vessel in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.[2]
