Meeting set

Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed during a Sunday call to meet in New York during the United Nations General Assembly. Zelenskyy's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov said the meeting was expected on Tuesday. The planned encounter places the two leaders on the same UN week schedule, but the parties have not announced a joint de-escalation text.[1], [2]

Refinery request

Axios reported that a source familiar with the call said Trump repeatedly asked Ukraine to stop attacking Russian refineries. Anadolu Agency separately reported the request, citing the Financial Times, and said it was raised during the Sunday telephone call. The reporting identifies a request attributed to Trump; it does not establish Ukrainian acceptance of that request.[1], [2]

No announced text

The available reports separate the scheduled meeting from any settled arrangement. Axios said no joint de-escalation text had been announced, and Anadolu Agency did not report an agreement between the leaders. The next meeting is therefore a reported diplomatic appointment, while the refinery request remains an attributed element of the prior call. Its practical terms were not publicly set out in either report.[1], [2]
