Burhan still has no US visa for the General Assembly
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Secretary-General António Guterres was deeply concerned that no visa had yet been issued to Sudan's Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. France 24 says diplomatic sources told AFP the United States was refusing one. The National reports the same concern and the same appeal: the host country should meet the UN headquarters agreement so Burhan can attend in person. A US State Department official told The National it does not comment on individual visa cases. France 24 carries that same refusal.

Guterres says the visa is still missing
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Secretary-General António Guterres was deeply concerned that no visa had yet been issued to Sudan's Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. The National reports the same statement: a visa had reportedly not yet been issued to the general, who is scheduled to address the gathering of world leaders. Diplomatic sources told AFP, France 24 reports, that the United States was refusing one.[1], [2]
The headquarters agreement
Dujarric urged the host country to meet the UN Headquarters Agreement so Burhan could attend the General Assembly in person. The National carries the same line and adds that the UN Secretariat has raised the issue with US authorities and is still talking to them. Under that agreement the United States, as host, has duties toward representatives of member states who are coming to UN meetings.[1], [2]
Washington will not discuss the file
A US State Department official told The National it does not comment on individual visa cases. France 24 reports that same refusal to discuss the file. Neither account says a visa has since been issued. The file stays open.[1], [2]
