Lubinets announces cleared routes and a ready convoy

Ukraine’s parliamentary human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets said on October 29 that designated routes for a humanitarian mission in Oleshky, a Russian-occupied town in southern Ukraine’s Kherson region, had been cleared of mines. He said the convoy had been assembled and was ready to depart. Russian human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova issued a similar statement that day.[1], [2]

Aid is planned for the town’s central hospital

Lubinets identified the central hospital as the convoy’s intended destination, where residents are to receive assistance. The plan provides for civilians who wish to leave to depart with security arrangements, followed by distribution of aid packages. Delegations from Ukraine, Russia and the United States gathered to coordinate the next steps. Lubinets said journalists from all three countries were present.[1]

The mission uses the ceasefire lasting until November 1

The White House announced the local ceasefire agreement on October 23; Ukraine and Russia subsequently confirmed it. The pause began on October 27 and is intended to last until November 1 for aid, mine clearance and civilian evacuation. Lubinets described Melania Trump, the US president’s wife, as mediating and coordinating the joint mission. Oleshky lies across the Dnipro River from Kherson.[1]
