Delegation returns for talks with Iranian officials
A Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran, Iran’s capital, on October 30 for talks with Iranian officials, according to Iranian state media. The delegation was headed by a senior adviser to Qatar’s prime minister. Iran’s official news agency IRNA described the agenda as bilateral relations and regional developments. The visit came as mediators sought to revive talks between Iran and the United States over the regional war.[1], [2]
Qatar and Pakistan continue mediation
Qatar and Pakistan have been working to restart peace talks following an April ceasefire agreement. A senior Iranian official said a Qatari delegation had also visited Tehran on Sunday. On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his government was discussing a plan with the two mediators to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the waterway used by international oil shipping.[1]
Hormuz conditions remain part of the talks’ setting
Iran has demanded conditions for reopening the strait, including a regional ceasefire, the release of frozen Iranian assets abroad, removal of oil sanctions and an end to the US naval blockade. The United States has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports, restricting trade and oil exports. The new Qatari visit follows these unresolved positions; the announced agenda described consultations rather than a signed settlement.[1]
