Plozasiran cut triglycerides 79 per cent and 81 per cent in severe hypertriglyceridaemia

Triglycerides fell 79 per cent in SHASTA-3 and 81 per cent in SHASTA-4 by month 12 on 25 mg Plozasiran every three months, against about 27 per cent among those given no active drug, from 500 mg/dL or above. Acute pancreatitis events were reported 78 per cent lower against those given no active drug. RADICAL PC 2 improved cholesterol by 12 mg/dL after specialist referral in men with prostate cancer, without cutting cardiac events over a median 5.8 years.

Triglycerides fell 79 per cent and 81 per cent by month 12

In people whose triglycerides started at 500 mg/dL or above, Plozasiran given as a 25 mg subcutaneous injection every three months cut levels 79 per cent in SHASTA-3 and 81 per cent in SHASTA-4 by month 12; the fall among those given no active drug was about 27 per cent. The SHASTA-3 and SHASTA-4 results, funded by Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals across 24 countries, were presented by Gerald Watts of the University of Western Australia at the ESC Congress. The 25 mg dose was given for a year.[1]

Pancreatitis events were reported 78 per cent lower

Acute pancreatitis events were reported 78 per cent lower against those given no active drug. In the group with triglycerides above 880 mg/dL and a previous episode, the announcement states a 100 per cent reduction. Those SHASTA-3 and SHASTA-4 figures were presented at the ESC Congress by Gerald Watts, with Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals funding the 25 mg injection given every three months through month 12.[1]

Cholesterol ran 12 mg/dL lower after referral, without fewer cardiac events

In men with prostate cancer, referral to an internist or cardiologist included a statin regardless of cholesterol level, a systolic target of 130 mm Hg or below, smoking-cessation counselling and diet and exercise advice. Cholesterol was 12 mg/dL lower after referral. Over a median 5.8 years, cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke and heart failure did not differ. Darryl Leong and colleagues report that referral improved risk factor management but did not reduce major cardiovascular events. RADICAL PC 2 was presented at ESC Congress 2026 and appeared in JAMA Internal Medicine.[2]
