Foster wins on all three cards
O’Shaquie Foster defeated Emanuel Navarrete by unanimous decision at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, in the United States. The 24 October bout unified three super featherweight world titles. Foster held the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) belts after the result. Two judges scored the fight 118-108 and the third 115-111.[1], [2]
Two knockdowns in the final round
Foster used footwork and counter-punches against Navarrete’s pressure, then increasingly exchanged at closer range as the rounds progressed. His corner urged him to finish strongly in the championship rounds. He knocked Navarrete down twice in the 12th, but the Mexican continued after both and completed the bout. The result was settled by the judges after the scheduled 12 rounds.[1]
Foster targets the remaining belt
The 33-year-old from Orange, Texas, moved to 26 wins and three defeats, including 12 knockout victories. Navarrete’s total became 40 wins, three losses and one draw, with 33 knockout wins. Foster said he wanted the remaining belt to become undisputed champion. Navarrete acknowledged that Foster’s style had been better on the night and said he might have applied more pressure.[1]
