Rain ends the finale after 42 laps
Hailie Deegan won the final race of the ARCA Menards Series West season at Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, California. Rain halted the race after 42 of the scheduled 150 laps. Mia Lovell finished second, with Hudson Sharp third on his debut, Taylor Mayhew fourth and Trevor Huddleston fifth.[1], [2]
Deegan leads before the interruption
Starting alongside pole winner Lovell, Deegan moved ahead on the opening lap. Lovell challenged again at the restart, but an incident involving Sam Corry and Joey Iest brought another interruption. Deegan remained in front when the rain returned. Officials consulted the circuit and broadcast partners before applying the rule allowing a result before halfway when further racing is impractical after reasonable restart attempts.[1]
Huddleston celebrates a second championship
Huddleston secured his second consecutive West Series title, completing a season with two victories and ten top-five finishes. The championship celebration came at the circuit owned by his parents, Tim and Lisa Huddleston. Deegan also ended the year with two wins in the last four races. The shortened finale completed the West season.[1]
