The doubles route
In the allocation of 38 new para archery places for the Lima 2027 Parapan American Games in Peru, doubles rankings in recurve and compound determined places for 12 men and 12 women. The final individual medal-event rankings distributed the rest. That split makes the doubles result an important part of a federation’s qualification arithmetic. Reading only the individual final standings leaves part of the qualification route unexplained. Finishing in the top three doubles pairs is itself a qualification mechanism.[1]
The allocation contains nine places each in men’s recurve and compound, seven each in women’s recurve and compound, and three each in men’s and women’s W1, a para archery classification category. Event category and gender therefore define different allocations before the country totals are added together. A recurve placing and a W1 placing operate within pools of different sizes. The first step in reading the quota table is to identify the event row: the overall total is the sum of those separate allocations.[1]
Equal totals, different entries
Brazil and Colombia make the distinction concrete with nine quotas each. Brazil has two men and two women in recurve, one man and two women in compound, and one man and one woman in W1. Colombia has two men and two women in both recurve and compound, plus one W1 woman. Within equal totals, Brazil’s men’s W1 place contrasts with Colombia’s additional men’s compound place. The event distribution available to each federation when assembling its team is consequently different.[1]
Mexico’s six quotas are divided into two each in men’s recurve, men’s compound and women’s compound. Peru’s six automatic host places instead provide one entry in every event. Equal totals again conceal a different competition profile. Distribution matters alongside the number: Mexico’s places are concentrated in three events, while Peru’s extend across all of them. The table explains which events each federation can enter without requiring a prediction about medals.[1]
The baseline for the remaining places
The continental championships’ 38 places are only one route into the country table. Four quotas from the Para South American Games, four for the Central American and Caribbean region, and Peru’s six host places have also been confirmed. A country’s total therefore cannot be reconstructed from the latest continental medal standings alone. Entry to the Games reflects the accumulation of these separate qualification routes.[1]
Seven men’s and seven women’s places remain to be allocated, together with four bipartite invitations. The final qualifier is on the 2027 programme, but its location has not yet been announced. The open part of the 26 October table is therefore which country and event rows receive those places. Brazil and Colombia’s equal totals, and Mexico and Peru’s different distributions, provide the baseline for reading the next update. A meaningful change belongs in the event breakdown as well as the overall count.[1]
