Google brings Marvell into TPU ecosystem, expands student features
Google reached an agreement worth about 12.2 billion dollars with Marvell for custom chips around its TPUs. In the same period, the company added new student features and study tools inside Search and Gemini.

Marvell joins the TPU ecosystem
Marvell issued Google a warrant for nearly 59 million shares, worth about 12.2 billion dollars in total, tied to custom silicon programs that attach to Google's TPU ecosystem. The agreement covers inference accelerators, storage and network controllers. Broadcom has been Google's partner of choice for TPUs until now; Broadcom shares fell about 4 per cent after the announcement.[1]
Search gets practice quizzes
Google brought five new learning features to Search for the back-to-school season. AI Mode and AI Overviews can now generate custom tools to show complex topics, and Search can build practice quizzes for any subject. The practice quizzes cover exams including the ACT, AP, ENEM, GRE, JEE, LSAT, MCAT, NEET and SAT, with various companies named as partners.[2]
Student hub opens inside Gemini
Google is opening a student hub inside Gemini that collects research in one place, pairing a study notebook, flashcards and practice quizzes. Eligible students in the US get a year of Google AI Pro free, which includes 5 TB of storage. Students outside the US are offered Google AI Plus, with 400 GB of storage.[3]
