Meta AI becomes CarPlay's fourth outside chatbot before Siri's AI arrives
Meta AI's iPhone app has joined CarPlay through the conversational-app support introduced with iOS 26.4, following ChatGPT, Perplexity and Grok. It is now the fourth third-party chatbot in Apple's in-car interface. While Siri's AI features are expected with iOS 27, some Meta AI users see a notice that their accounts are not yet supported; the same notice persisted in a test with a paid account.

Meta AI becomes CarPlay's fourth outside chatbot
The latest version of Meta AI's iPhone app now runs in CarPlay. It follows ChatGPT, Perplexity and Grok as the fourth third-party chatbot to join Apple's in-car interface. Both 9to5Mac and ShiftDelete.Net Global report that this lineup formed before Apple's own Siri AI features reached CarPlay.[1], [2]
iOS 26.4 opened the door while Siri waits for iOS 27
Apple added support in iOS 26.4 that lets third-party developers run conversational apps in CarPlay's in-car interface, and Meta AI has now joined the apps using it. Apple's AI features for Siri are expected to reach CarPlay with iOS 27. 9to5Mac says that release remains in beta, while ShiftDelete.Net Global reports that its arrival is planned for September.[1], [2]
Meta AI access is not yet open to some accounts
Although CarPlay support appears in the latest app, access does not work for every account. In 9to5Mac's experience, some users opening the app encountered a notice saying that the Meta AI feature was not yet supported for their accounts. The publication reports that the same notice persisted when a paid Meta AI account was tested.[1]
