Xiaomi launches the 18 Fold in China with its own XRing chip

Xiaomi launched the 18 Fold in China after its IFA preview. The foldable combines the company's own XRing chip with two displays and a 6,000 milliamp-hour battery, starting at 10,999 yuan. Because the sources differ between O3 and 03 for the chip version, the headline does not settle that designation; availability outside China also remains unstated.

The 18 Fold goes on sale with Xiaomi's own chip

TrendForce and Android Authority report that Xiaomi launched the 18 Fold in China after its IFA 2026 preview and equipped it with the company's own XRing chip. One source renders the version as O3 and the other as 03, so the launch and chip identity are shared findings while the precise designation remains unresolved. The phone has a 5.38-inch cover display and a 7.58-inch internal screen. Pricing starts at 10,999 yuan.[1], [2]

Battery, memory and charging target the premium tier

According to Android Authority, the 18 Fold offers 12 gigabytes to 16 gigabytes of memory, 256 gigabytes to 1 terabyte of storage and a 6,000 milliamp-hour battery. Wired charging is rated at 67 watts and wireless charging at 50 watts. Xiaomi says the dual-layer ultra-thin glass is 178 per cent stronger and 29 per cent more impact resistant than the 2024 Mix Fold 4. The report does not include independent testing of those durability figures.[2]

Availability beyond the limited edition remains unclear

The ceramic edition costs 15,999 yuan and is limited to 1,500 units. Although the launch puts Xiaomi's own chip design inside a wide-screen foldable, the sources provide no independent measurements of on-device AI performance or the XRing processor. Availability outside China is also unstated. The first practical test will therefore concern where the phone becomes available and how it performs in everyday use, rather than the company's hardware claims alone.[2]
