Airbnb turns spoken trip requests into search filters

Airbnb added AI search to its fall update, letting travelers describe a trip in text or speech and receive relevant filters. Search results summarize important home features, while saved homes can be compared side by side. The planning tools start in the United States, alongside social features that let users choose how to share trips and recommendations with people they know. AI chat support is available in more than 50 languages.

Travel searches accept text and voice

Airbnb added AI search in its September 30 fall update. Travelers can describe the home they want in text or speech, and the interface displays filters relevant to their preferences. The change brings everyday wording into property discovery rather than requiring every preference to be selected from a fixed list. In Airbnb’s example, entering baby-related wording surfaces cribs, playgrounds, children’s books and toys. The new search bar also covers experiences and services. The company says these trip-planning features begin in the United States.[1], [2]

Saved homes can be compared side by side

Search results now carry AI descriptions highlighting important features of each home. Properties saved to a wishlist can be shown side by side with summaries of their key features. Airbnb also offers AI chat support in more than 50 languages, while expanding voice support by telephone.[1]

Travelers choose which trips to share

The fall update also lets users connect with people they know and view their trips and recommendations. Each user decides which journeys appear on a travel map and how much detail is shared. Trips can be hidden or removed, and connections blocked. Neighborhood pages begin in Paris with information about the area, transport and activities.[1]
