Cloudflare gives AI agents one gateway to three web-search services
Cloudflare has added Web Search API to AI Gateway, connecting applications to Ceramic.ai, Exa and Linkup. Developers can retrieve structured results through a web interface or a Workers application and pass them into a model's context. Search requests share the gateway's authentication and billing facilities, while application teams decide when to search and how to use the results.

Three search providers share one gateway
Cloudflare has introduced Web Search API through AI Gateway, its service for managing applications' requests to AI systems. The application programming interface connects developers to Ceramic.ai, Exa and Linkup through one gateway. Its beta supplies structured web-search results that applications can place in an AI agent's context when the task needs current information.[1], [2]
Applications choose when to retrieve information
A backend can request results through a standalone REST endpoint, while an application on Cloudflare's Workers platform can use a binding to the same service. The application retrieves search results and passes them to the model. Developers decide when that step runs and how the response is used. Cloudflare says more direct, native support for models' search tool calls is under development.[1]
Providers retain their own data policies
AI Gateway brings authentication and request visibility into the same layer. Developers can pay with Cloudflare credits or use their own provider key. Data-retention policies differ by provider, with zero-retention partners marked separately.[1]
Cloudflare also highlights the partners' commitment to identify their crawlers and respect robots.txt access rules. Returned source links allow an application to show where its retrieved information originated.[1]
