Orange Spain widens its Gemini Enterprise partnership with Google Cloud

Orange Spain and Google Cloud announced on October 8 an expanded partnership around Gemini Enterprise, Google’s business AI product. The Spanish telecom operator reports more than 1,000 custom AI agents in use. The figure comes from the companies’ own announcement and is not the result of an independent audit of the deployment or its performance.[1], [2]

The agents serve human resources, information technology, sales and customer service. Business teams as well as technical employees build them with low-code tools, which let people without programming skills prepare agents for their own tasks. Orange Spain says it assigned Gemini Enterprise licenses across its major business areas.[1]

The agents draw on company data held in Google Cloud

Orange’s data-infrastructure relationship with Google Cloud dates to 2018. A BigQuery data warehouse and a Cloud Storage data lake are described as the foundation that connects the new workflows to existing corporate information.[1]

Retrieval-augmented generation lets a model draw on relevant company data when it answers, and semantic search helps find material linked to a user’s question. Grounding answers in verified corporate data is the stated design goal.[1]

In information technology, the listed uses include first assessment of incidents, classifying them and routing them to the relevant team, along with examining logs for root causes, retrieving organizational knowledge and managing requests.[1]

Agent creation is spread across teams while security and administration stay central

Creation of agents is distributed, while security, access and orchestration are managed centrally within the organization’s security framework. Orange Spain technology executive Miguel Santos and Google Cloud’s Iberia lead Isaac Hernandez describe the collaboration.[1]

Employee access, the agent count and the data connections are the concrete elements disclosed. They are not measurements of resolution quality, error rate or actual use by every employee. The announcement concerns internal knowledge and service management at a telecom operator and introduces neither a consumer tariff nor a separate public product.[1], [2]
