Seoul Physical AI Techweek sets a two-day government and industry agenda

South Korea’s science ministry has announced Physical AI Techweek at COEX in Seoul for October 13–14. The first day will present the government’s intended direction for 2027 projects and bring alliance members together to discuss development and trials. The second day focuses on technical talks and demonstrations. Attendance, policy and industrial results remain prospective.

Two days at COEX

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT announced Physical AI Techweek on October 12 for October 13–14 at COEX in Seoul. The ministry is hosting it with the Physical AI Alliance and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency as organisers. Physical AI here means systems that can sense and act in physical settings, such as robots and industrial equipment. The programme links research, industrial use, government policy and investment.[1], [2]

More than 500 people are expected, including representatives from roughly 400 companies and institutions in the alliance, venture capital investors and related organisations. Those figures describe expected attendance, not a confirmed gathering. The announced first day is called Physical AI Alliance Day. Companies and research institutions are due to discuss cooperation on development, trials and eventual commercial use.[1], [2]

Government plans enter the first-day programme

The October 13 agenda includes a cross-ministry briefing on the intended direction of physical AI work in 2027. The science ministry is due to appear with departments responsible for smaller businesses, agriculture and oceans. The programme spans prospective work in manufacturing, logistics, farming and ports. Sharing a direction and describing prospective projects does not mean that a budget or a final policy has already been approved.[1], [2]

Krafton AI chief Lee Kang-wook, Nvidia Korea chief Jeong So-young and Intel vice president John Healy are named for talks on social-intelligence robots and industrial digitisation. The alliance’s three afternoon groups are scheduled to discuss research obstacles, a Korean physical AI technology stack, industry trials, data use, standards and safety. These subjects are proposed discussion areas for companies and institutions rather than completed joint projects.[1], [2]

Technical sessions and displays follow

October 14 is titled Physical AI Tech Day and carries the theme of an acting brain. Planned keynotes by FriendlyAI chief Jeon Byeong-gon, Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Kim Sang-bae and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology professor Lee Gyu-bin address inference infrastructure, physical intelligence architecture and robot foundation models. Later sessions take up AI factories, digital twins, cooperative robotics, agentic AI and the ability of systems to exchange data.[1], [2]

An exhibition is planned throughout the meeting, with named participants including Neuromeka, Nota AI, RealWorld, Maum AI, OnePredict, KT and LG CNS. The organisers expect displays of inference chips, factory controls, intelligent robots, humanoids and edge servers. A public discussion led by chemist and science-fiction writer Kwak Jae-sik is also scheduled. The displays are scheduled; their results will depend on demonstrations during the event.[1], [2]
