OpenClaw update restores agent work interrupted by restarts
OpenClaw’s October 18 release focuses on keeping conversations and delegated work intact when its Gateway restarts. Interrupted turns and deferred tasks can resume, while recovery fixes address stalled streams and lost session data. The same release adds an X channel and voice-call controls. Its primary release document describes the changes; it provides no independent measurement of reliability gains.

Conversations resume after a restart
OpenClaw’s 2026.10.5 release addresses work interrupted when its Gateway connection layer restarts. Conversations can resume along with delegated agent work and deferred tasks. Recovery also covers a first message received while a workspace is still being prepared. User input and committed session information are preserved through restarts, concurrent writes and failed publication. The version label differs from its actual publication date of October 18. The changes are documented in the project’s own release notes.[1]
Failed turns receive a visible ending
Other recovery changes target streams that stall, repeated tool-call identifiers, expired ChatGPT connections and malformed OpenAI or Google streams. An incomplete turn ends with a visible notice. Parent conversations show when a child agent fails or needs attention. Updates also recover stale handoff leases and package-activation journals that could leave an installation stranded. These changes describe specific recovery paths in the software; the document supplies no independent reliability measurement for them.[1]
X and voice calls gain controls
A new X channel plugin can stream replies to mentions, allow guest questions about repositories and enforce API-cost limits. Voice calls gain live steering and reports. Their other additions include briefs for individual calls, voicemail detection and callbacks. Downloaded model catalogues can take effect without restarting the Gateway. Browser-pairing credentials are removed from the opener process arguments. Setup diagnostics must obtain approval before making a repair. The Android application package is explicitly skipped because its version does not match this release train.[1]
