Arc will close in December as its maker concentrates on Dia
The Browser Company has announced a staged shutdown of Arc, ending new account creation before closing the desktop browser on December 22. Mobile AI features and account-linked functions will stop earlier. Users have a limited period to move their browsing data as the company concentrates development and security work on its AI-focused Dia browser.

New Arc accounts have already stopped
The Browser Company, the developer of Arc and the AI-focused Dia browser, has set December 22 as Arc’s retirement date. The company is directing users toward Dia while concentrating development and security work on that browser.[1], [2]
The shutdown has begun with the end of new account creation on October 22. Existing installations face a later timetable. The announced plan separates the loss of mobile account features from the final closure of desktop access.[1]
Mobile AI features end before desktop access
According to the company’s schedule, Browse for Me, Arc’s mobile AI browsing feature, and other AI functions on iOS and Android end on November 23. Mobile sign-in and tab synchronization stop on the same date. Basic browsing in Arc Search is treated separately from these account-connected services. The mobile restrictions therefore arrive before the desktop shutdown.[1]
Account closure also starts the data-deletion clock
The company says Arc on macOS and Windows becomes inaccessible on December 22, when accounts are deactivated. Personal data is scheduled for deletion within 30 days of account closure. Its migration instructions cover bookmarks, passwords, history and extensions, and it also provides a tab-list export for users choosing another browser. Support cannot recover the data once the accounts have closed, according to the announced plan.[1]
