LINE Yahoo’s voice AI books restaurants through Toreta
LINE Yahoo has launched a voice service that answers restaurant reservation calls and checks available tables through Toreta. It can confirm bookings, suggest another time and write the booking into the restaurant’s ledger. Staff can review calls and approve restaurant-specific answers. SMS confirmation is available, while notifications through LINE are planned for later.

Calls become bookings in the restaurant ledger
LINE Yahoo launched LINE AI Reservation for restaurants on October 22. The voice service answers reservation calls when staff are busy or the restaurant is closed. It asks the caller for a date, time and party size, then checks available space through Toreta, a restaurant reservation ledger. When a table is available, it confirms the booking and writes the result directly into that system.[1], [2]
If the requested time is full, the service can offer another time. Booking details can be sent by text message, and callers can change or cancel the reservation online. Restaurants can block unwanted calls or route selected callers directly to staff. Those settings give the establishment a choice over which conversations remain automated and which are handled by a person during daily operations.[1]
Restaurants approve their own answers
The service also handles questions beyond booking, including opening hours and directions. For restaurant-specific information, AI prepares proposed answers from material such as the establishment’s official website. The restaurant reviews and edits those proposals in an administration interface before they are used. Preparing the response and approving it are separate stages, with the business controlling the information supplied about its own premises.[1]
Staff can inspect recordings, transcripts and summaries of the conversations through the same interface. LINE Yahoo says the service was tested at approximately 60 restaurants before general launch. Operator accounts in the announcement describe their experience of that trial. They are testimonials from the rollout rather than an independent measurement of the labor saved by every restaurant adopting the service.[1]
LINE notifications follow the SMS launch
Notifications through LINE are planned as a later addition, while the existing confirmation route uses SMS. The company explicitly states that LINE notifications were unavailable at launch. The proposed function would use telephone-number matching to reach customers even if they had not added the restaurant’s account as a friend. Delivery would depend on user settings and on the restaurant completing the required contractual and configuration steps.[1]
