oai-math-revised opens OpenAI mathematics manuscripts to community revision
A new community initiative invites students, researchers and mathematics enthusiasts to improve OpenAI’s mathematical write-ups. Participants can revise explanations, complete citations and flag potential errors through a shared repository. All submissions receive review, substantial use of automated tools must be disclosed, and contributors may participate without publishing their real identities.

Contributors can repair explanations and citations
The oai-math-revised initiative is inviting contributions to improve OpenAI’s mathematical write-ups. Its announcement, a guest post on mathematician Terence Tao’s blog, identifies difficult exposition and incomplete citations as areas needing work. Students, postdoctoral researchers, professors and mathematics enthusiasts can contribute. Rachel Ward, Soledad Villar, Johannes Schmitt and Abhinav Nellore issued the invitation on 24 October.[1]
A shared repository accepts several contribution routes
Participants can edit manuscript files, open issues proposing changes or comment in a paper’s notes file. Direct revisions go through a fork and pull request, with edits to the TeX sources preferred. Each manuscript has its own directory and PDF. Contributors rebuilding a PDF retain its filename, and sparse-checkout instructions let them download selected papers rather than the entire large collection.[1]
Reviews and automation disclosure govern submissions
The announcement is the primary document for this contribution process. Repository instructions require review of all submissions and disclosure of substantial use of proof assistants, language models and other software used for mathematics. Contributors may use an alternative GitHub handle. Adding someone else to the interested-participants list requires explicit permission. The companion website offers PDFs, notes, reference contributions and links for reporting problems.[1]
