Affinity brings unified editing and a touch drawing workspace to iPad
Canva released its unified Affinity design app for iPad on November 2, bringing drawing, vector editing, pixel work and page layout into one file. A new Sketch Studio adapts the workflow to touch and Apple Pencil. The tablet release follows the desktop consolidation, while optional artificial intelligence functions remain separate from the core editing tools.

Four workspaces move into one tablet file
Canva, the design software company, released the unified Affinity app for iPad on November 2.[1], [2]
Sketch, Vector, Pixel and Layout workspaces bring drawing, vector editing, pixel-based work and page layout into the same file. Users can change workspaces inside their project rather than moving the work between separate applications. The tablet release extends the consolidation previously introduced in the desktop application.[1]
Sketch Studio adapts drawing to touch
Sketch Studio, the app’s drawing workspace, is adapted for touch and Apple Pencil input. It supports freehand drawing, creating masks and converting sketches into shapes. The interface also uses tilt, pressure and hover position. Apple Pencil Pro barrel rotation and squeeze gestures provide further ways to control tools. These are features of the drawing workflow, allowing pen movements and touch input to operate within the unified project.[1]
Optional AI tools retain separate access
The core editing tools use a free Canva account. Optional artificial intelligence functions are grouped in AI Studio and require Canva Pro access. They include generative image expansion, motion blur, denoising and upscaling. Canva acquired Serif, Affinity’s developer, in 2024, before relaunching the unified desktop application in 2025. The iPad version now carries that editing structure into a pen-and-touch interface.[1]
