Sim ties hosted Chat access to a paid plan or prepaid credits

Sim 0.9.40 requires a paid subscription or prepaid credit allocated by an administrator for Chat in hosted deployments with billing enabled. Eligibility follows the workspace payer, so paid team members need no separate personal subscription. Ineligible work stops before worker dispatch, while scheduled jobs are skipped until the plan permits them to resume.

The payer’s plan determines Chat access

Sim, a platform for agent workflows, changed hosted Chat eligibility in its November 1 release, 0.9.40. In the project’s description, billed hosted installations require a paying plan unless a free-plan payer has prepaid credits granted by an administrator. The account assessed is the workspace’s organization or personal owner. Someone joining an eligible paid team or enterprise workspace therefore needs no additional individual paid subscription.[1]

Ineligible tasks stop before dispatch

If the payer is ineligible, the service displays a paid-plan requirement before consulting usage or sending work to a worker. The rule applies across web Chat and other routes into the same service, including Slack, knowledge-base chat and the v2 API. Scheduled jobs receive a skipped-for-budget status; they can resume when the plan makes them eligible. Billing managers get the upgrade route, while other users are told who can change the plan.[1]

Subscription-read failures remain retryable

The release also corrects a legacy-account check that could mistake a failed subscription lookup for a free plan. That path now returns a server error that can be retried, instead of rejecting the paying account as ineligible. Self-hosted installations and deployments without billing remain outside the new Chat payment requirement.[1]
