Smartsheet introduces vsActual to track work against strategy
Smartsheet has introduced vsActual to compare work across business applications with an organisation’s strategic plans. Its Execution Graph connects tasks, projects and goals, giving AI agents context for spotting delays and resource conflicts. The company says people retain control over consequential changes. The introduction includes registrations for updates rather than confirmation of general availability for every customer.

Plans meet ongoing work
Smartsheet, which makes work-management software, introduced vsActual at its Engage conference to track how enterprise work follows strategic plans. The platform is designed to read information from existing business applications instead of requiring every team to move its activities into one system. Its agents use strategy documents, spreadsheets and budget proposals to create structured plans and compare those plans with work already underway.[1], [2]
Connecting tasks with goals
The Execution Graph is a knowledge graph linking tasks with projects, programmes and strategic objectives. Smartsheet says it uses those relationships to provide agents with business context, including schedules, budgets, staffing capacity and dependencies between work. The intended functions include modelling alternative plans, detecting drift and preparing executive reports. The company also announced scheduled agentic workflows for activities such as status reporting and risk assessments in its existing product.[1]
People retain approval
Human approval remains the default for consequential actions, according to Smartsheet’s product and technology chief Pratima Arora. The company says agents cannot independently change the plan. Arora also says Smartsheet selects foundation models according to the task and cost instead of training its own large language model. Conversational tools for connecting other business applications are also entering early access.[1]
