AT&T adds Gemini search to Connected Life camera history
AT&T has connected its Connected Life home security system to Gemini for Home and Google Home Premium. Customers with professional monitoring can search recorded camera activity in everyday language and receive more descriptive notifications and daily summaries. The addition builds on the system launched with Google and Abode, bringing interpretation of footage into an existing security service.

Gemini reaches the existing security service
AT&T has added Gemini for Home, Google’s AI service for connected homes, to its Connected Life security system. The November 4 update connects the system with Google Home Premium features for interpreting camera activity. It includes detailed event notifications, searches through recorded video using ordinary language and summaries of activity around the home over the course of a day.[1], [2]
Connected Life was launched the previous December through AT&T’s partnership with Google and Abode, the home-security company. The Gemini addition builds on that existing system. It uses Google’s Home application programming interfaces, or APIs, through which smart-home manufacturers and developers can connect the company’s AI capabilities to their own devices and services.[1]
Questions find moments in camera footage
Instead of searching only by the time an event occurred, users can describe what they are looking for in a question. The examples include finding what disturbed a garden overnight or who let dogs outside. These requests search camera recordings for the described activity, making the search itself a conversation about the event a user wants to locate.[1]
Camera notifications can give an account of what happened in view rather than simply announce motion. For example, a delivery description can identify who left a package and how many items were delivered. Daily summaries collect activity from different times, offering a separate way to review events inside and outside the home alongside searches for individual recorded moments.[1]
Professional monitoring governs access
The Gemini functions require AT&T’s professional Connected Life monitoring subscription. The update also brings location-based arming and disarming, allowing the security system to change state as a user approaches or leaves home. That proximity control sits alongside the new camera functions: searching past footage, receiving an event description and reading a daily summary each serve a separate action within the existing application. AT&T describes Connected Life as the first home-security product to integrate with Google Home Premium.[1]
