Bolivia's Congress backs a 1.9 billion dollar IMF loan
Bolivia's Congress approved a 1.9 billion dollar IMF loan on Friday for President Rodrigo Paz, Al Jazeera reported, citing the Associated Press, and The Independent confirmed the same vote. The three-year programme still needs the Fund's Executive Board before money moves, and officials tie it to about 5 billion dollars more from the World Bank and other lenders. Paz's party lacks a majority; Al Jazeera notes MAS holds two of 130 lower-house seats. Fuel-subsidy cuts remain the political cost.
Boston circuit requires notice before third-country removal
A three-judge First Circuit panel in Boston on Friday largely upheld a February ruling that the Department of Homeland Security's third-country removal policy is unlawful, Al Jazeera and CBS News reported. Judge Seth Aframe wrote that migrants must have a meaningful chance to raise safety fears, which requires prior notice of the destination. The court did drop, on procedure, a slice about trying countries of ties first. The administration is expected to appeal, CBS says likely to the Supreme Court.
Brent at 104.87 dollars as US diesel hits a record
Reuters in Houston said Brent’s settle was 104.87 dollars and WTI’s was 100.30 dollars. AAA put US pump diesel at 6.45 dollars a gallon, a record, and petrol around 4.47 dollars a gallon. IIR Energy expected a 371,000 barrel-a-day drop in US refining output in the coming week. Thursday Hormuz traffic was four cargo ships, under a 10-day mean of about 16.
Collagen I parks LAT1 at the membrane in starved dishes
Nazemi's PLOS Biology uncorrected proof of 18 September 2026 says collagen I, via α2β1 integrin, parks LAT1-4F2hc at the membrane and supports mTORC1 phosphorylation of S6 in breast and pancreatic cancer cells grown with too little glucose. Blocking the integrin or the transporter reduced growth and invasion in flat dishes and in gel cultures. That is not a human treatment result.
CoreWeave prices 3.7 billion dollars of 2033 convertibles
CoreWeave priced an upsized $3.7 billion private sale of 2.875 per cent convertible senior notes due 2033, up from $3.0 billion, with settlement scheduled for 22 September and a $500 million buyer option. The investor note puts last Class A at $79.88 on 17 September and an initial conversion price near $97.85. Pulse 2.0 reports the same coupon, size, settlement date and conversion premium. About $498.8 million is earmarked for capped calls.
Detroit groups ask Trump to bar Chinese car plants
CNBC reported on 18 September 2026 that it had viewed a letter from US auto groups urging Donald Trump to keep Chinese carmakers from opening a plant in the United States. Three US maker and dealer groups are named in that file. On 11 September, speaking on Fox News, Trump said he was open to a Chinese plant. Transport Topics said another wire also had the letter; that second look is not a second source on this card.
DGHS measles counts move from 175,198 to 177,725
Scientific American, citing Bangladesh's Directorate General of Health Services, reported at least 175,198 suspected measles cases and 1,044 confirmed and suspected deaths from 15 March to 16 September 2026, mostly in unvaccinated children younger than two. bdnews24.com's Friday DGHS bulletin raises suspected cases to 177,725, confirmed cases to 20,395, and combined deaths to 1,048, with 52 newly confirmed cases in 24 hours. Both rest on DGHS reporting, not an independent census.
Disney names the conversational startup's Anand its first CTO
Walt Disney Co appointed Karandeep Anand senior executive vice president and first chief technology officer from 2 October, reporting to Josh D Amaro. He will oversee enterprise technology, infrastructure, product and engineering. The Los Angeles Times reports the same start date. Some engineers from his prior startup are expected to follow. On the equity market this is a listed-company investment: stock, revenue, earnings and the streaming market sit with Disney+.
Electron lofts a Synspective radar satellite
SpaceNews correspondent Foust reported a Rocket Lab flight of a Japanese Synspective radar-imaging craft on 18 September, US time. He called it the fifth Electron outing inside roughly six weeks. The piece ran 19 September 2026; the photograph caption on that page repeated the 18 September US lift-off with that Synspective payload. Electron is a small orbital launch vehicle; the payload is a radar-imaging satellite bound for Earth observation, a spaceflight story rather than a diplomatic one.
False cargo reading nearly sent US troops onto a Chinese ship
CNN, citing four people familiar with a spring episode during the Iran war, says a Special Operations Command analyst used a chatbot that misread a Chinese ship's cargo as nuclear-weapons parts. Aircraft were already aloft before officials stopped an intercept. TechCrunch, reporting the same account, says the operation was aborted after the packaged intelligence was recognised as a hallucination.
