Brussels wires 3.3 billion euros to Kyiv for missiles and drones
Ukrainska Pravda quoted Koretskyi saying Brussels released a €3.3 billion defence slice of the Ukraine Support Loan toward missiles and drones on Friday. It cited matching Commission wording and an RBC-Ukraine instalment count, with no delivery schedule.
Bullock ties this year’s 75 basis-point tightening to inflation
Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Michele Bullock told parliament the cash-rate target has been raised by 50 basis points since February and by 75 basis points in total this year. She put unemployment at 4.5 per cent and said headline and underlying inflation over the past year were around or a little above 3.5 per cent. The August forecast returns inflation to the target midpoint only in late 2027. Housing prices remain around 50 per cent higher than in early 2020. Card surcharging ends on 1 October.
Canada’s 2059 auction prints 4.201%, highest since 2007
The Bank of Canada allotted C$3 billion of 2059 bonds at an average yield of 4.201%, coverage 2.545, coupon 3.750%. Bloomberg’s feed called that the highest long-term auction yield in 19 years, since 2007.
China Coast Guard hull CCG-21585 collides with a Palawan fuel-subsidy ship
GMA News and Rappler report a 18 September collision about 54 nautical miles off Palawan. Rear Admiral Jay Tarriela said China Coast Guard ship CCG-21585 rammed BRP Datu Magat Salamat on a fuel-subsidy mission near Abad Santos Shoal, damaging starboard railing and deck. Rappler quotes the Philippine Coast Guard calling it intentional ramming. Beijing said Philippine vessel 3015 cut across its bow. The two official stories conflict.
Claude Code Projects now split one goal across parallel cloud threads
The Verge and THE DECODER reported on 17 September that Anthropic rebuilt Projects in Claude Code. A user states a goal; a coordinator assigns parallel threads, each a cloud session on its own branch. Threads can open pull requests and run tests, share memory and a file library, and stay in beta for select Pro and Max subscribers before Team, Enterprise and local runs.
Claude ran a quarter of August internal R&D work
An Anthropic institute note dated 17 September placed Claude at 26 percent of the lab's August AI research-and-development load on an Epoch AI scale, with a collaboration share above 90 percent and no fully autonomous slice. About 30,000 agents ran together on the busiest internal platform. A July sample week sent about 6 percent of that compute slice to safety. The percentages are the lab's own measurements.
DoorDash agent cleanup and Copilot engagement metrics land the same week
InfoQ said DoorDash built a multi-agent LLM workflow to scan more than 60,000 stale feature flags across 623 repositories, pulling live experiment data through MCP without reporting a cleanup yield. GitHub added 28-day Copilot feature engagement counts to enterprise impact dashboards the day before.

ECB President Christine Lagarde told RTÉ a rate cut is very unlikely for now and that policy moves meeting by meeting. On the same day Boris Vujčić warned euro-area rate bets should not rest on one data set, citing oil and gas paths into inflation.
EGFR T790M shows a 60-fold lung-cancer link in never-smokers
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and 23andMe Research Institute linked inherited EGFR T790M to a 25-fold higher lung-cancer risk overall and to more than 60-fold among people who never smoked. Live Science’s feed said the rare mutation raises risk in nonsmokers and is more common among people born in Southeastern US states.
Euro-area annual HICP rises to 3.2 per cent in August
Eurostat put euro-area annual HICP at 3.2 per cent in August, up from 2.9 per cent in July. The ECB Consumer Expectations Survey the same week lifted the 12-month inflation median to 3.0 per cent from 2.9 per cent.
