CBS News and Anadolu Agency reported that the House passed an Iran war-powers resolution 220 to 204. CBS said this was the third such vote, that Seth Moulton sponsored it, and that seven Republicans voted yes. The measure is not yet a statute. UK consumer prices rose to 3.1 per cent in August

GCHQ's NCSC, with US and Dutch partners, warned that Iranian state actors use CHOSEN BRICK against dissidents, activists and journalists. Al Jazeera says the FBI attributed the malware to Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security. The Register adds that observed implants hit Windows only, arriving through WhatsApp and Telegram, and using Telegram bots for command.
US median household income rose to 87,460 dollars in 2025, poverty fell to 10.2 percent
The U.S. Census Bureau said real median household income was 87,460 dollars in 2025, up 2.6 percent from 85,210 dollars in 2024. The official poverty rate fell 0.5 percentage points to 10.2 percent. CNBC placed the same table against a Federal Reserve debate on rate increases.
von der Leyen offered Canada the EU’s first associate membership
In Strasbourg, with Mark Carney in the chamber, Ursula von der Leyen said she wanted to open the door for Canada to be the EU’s first associate member. BBC reported that US trade talks collapsed last month and that she said the offer was not a partnership against anyone else. SCMP wrote that he called for the Strait of Hormuz to reopen and warned against a Yemen spillover.
