Tex Mex Tapes extends Middle of Nowhere
Kacey Musgraves has announced Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes. The new collection accompanies Middle of Nowhere, continuing the album under a second-volume title.[1], [2]
Lost Highway has scheduled Tex Mex Tapes for 15 January. The album contains 16 tracks, bringing together 11 new songs and five covers. Among them is a Spanish version of Uncertain, TX, a song from the first Middle of Nowhere. Musgraves said she would share Weekend in Texas and her version of the norteño standard Mi Tesoro on the night of the announcement.[1]
Intocable and Mariachi Oro de América appear on separate tracks
The Spanish version of Uncertain, TX features Intocable. It appears as the ninth track, following Pretty Horses, Weekend in Texas, Hard Conversations, Denim on Denim, Figure Out My Life, Caballero, The Vacation Song and (Hey Baby) Qué Pasó? The first sequence of the album therefore places the new Spanish recording after a set of separately titled songs.[1]
Mi Tesoro and Rodeo follow. Tú Solo Tú was recorded live in Mexico City with Mariachi Oro de América. The closing stretch brings together All My Exes (Kacey’s Version), Desert Eyes, Pity Party and Before the Next Teardrop Falls. The guest appearances belong to their named recordings, with Intocable on Uncertain, TX and Mariachi Oro de América on Tú Solo Tú.[1]
The first album’s tour approaches its Seattle finish
The original Middle of Nowhere was released in May. Dry Spell and the title track were among the songs that introduced it, and Musgraves later released a video for Mexico Honey. Tex Mex Tapes now carries that album title into a companion release, with the Spanish Uncertain, TX providing a direct link to an existing song from the first volume.[1]
Musgraves is also nearing the end of the first album’s North American tour. Its scheduled final concerts take place at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on 26 and 27 October. The second-volume announcement arrives while that live run is still under way, bringing the new title, label, release date and complete tracklist into view together.[1]
