Doha will host 82 galleries in January

Art Basel, the international art-fair organiser, has announced 82 galleries from 37 countries and territories for its second Qatar edition.[1], [2]

The event is scheduled for January 28–30, 2027, with previews on January 26 and 27. It will occupy M7, a creative hub, and Doha Design District in Msheireb Downtown Doha, in Qatar’s capital. The programme includes 80 new single-artist projects.[1]

A regional artist presence shapes the programme

Iraqi curator Wassan Al-Khudhairi is artistic director and has chosen between as the theme for the presentations. She is developing the programme with Vincenzo de Bellis, Art Basel’s chief artistic officer and global director of fairs. Approximately half the artists come from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. More than a third of participating galleries operate spaces in those regions, and over 30 galleries are joining the Qatar fair for the first time.[1]

Collectors Majlis extends beyond the fair dates

The organiser also announced Collectors Majlis, an invitation-only pilot programme for approximately 30–40 new, emerging or art-adjacent collectors. It includes masterclasses, workshops, collection visits and discussions. Sessions before the fair lead into meetings during the event and a later salon. The initiative launches in October. Regional galleries in the exhibitor list include Athr and Green Art Gallery; international participants include Gagosian and White Cube.[1]
