Joe Ward joins the album lineup

One Trip brings London electronic group Factory Floor back to an album after the ten-year gap following 2016’s 25 25.[1], [2]

Original members Nik Colk Void and Gabe Gurnsey are joined by Joe Ward in the new trio. The announcement comes with two released songs, Continuation and the title track. Phantasy Sound, the label releasing the album, has set November 27 for its arrival. The album contains 10 tracks.[1]

Solo work continued between group albums

The group’s debut appeared in 2013 on the DFA label. Dominic Butler, who belonged to the original formation, left before the second album. Gurnsey and Void continued making music during the interval between Factory Floor releases, working with labels including Editions Mego and Phantasy Sound, associated with Erol Alkan. Their activities as individual musicians continued through the decade separating the group’s albums.[1]

A festival return precedes the new live show

A 2024 performance at Mutek, an electronic music festival, preceded the renewed shared project. The musicians said that playing together revived their desire for the emotional and physical connection of a studio and a stage, an energy they had missed while working alone. A new live show is scheduled at London’s Barbican arts centre on December 5, when Factory Floor are due to support the band Squid.[1]
