Ludovico Einaudi has been selected for Fellowship of the Ivors Academy.[1], [2]
The music creators’ organisation awards its highest honour through recognition by fellow creators. He will be inducted at the Ivors Composer Awards on 17 November at Grosvenor House in London. On the following day he will speak at the academy’s Composer Summit at the Royal Institution.[1]
A career crosses musical forms
Classically trained, Einaudi draws on minimalism, folk, electronic music and improvisation. Alongside studio recordings and concerts, he has composed for films including This Is England, Nomadland and The Father, and television productions Doctor Zhivago and Derek. His work also encompasses theatre and dance. He said British artists helped shape his musical world and described the UK as the first country to embrace his work.[1]
Composer Week hosts the new awards
The ceremony is part of the inaugural Ivors Composer Week, running from 16 to 20 November. Radio presenter Petroc Trelawny hosts the awards, supported by PRS for Music in association with BBC Radio 3. The academy previously named 36 nominees in nine categories, covering film, television, games, concert music, theatre and community engagement. Academy chair Tom Gray highlighted Einaudi’s work across musical boundaries.[1]
