A narrow lead before the final count
You Can See Everything, A24’s documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, has a narrow advantage over Clayface in North American Halloween weekend studio estimates. Variety puts the documentary at $10.6 million in its third weekend and the DC comic-book adaptation at $10.4 million in its second. The documentary expanded to 3,242 venues, while Clayface played at 3,478 theatres. Final results are due on Monday. The projected lead would give You Can See Everything its first weekend at number one.[1], [2]
The documentary approaches 64 million dollars
According to Variety, You Can See Everything has earned $63.88 million in North America and has not yet opened internationally. Its reported production budget was $7 million. Clayface, an adult-oriented origin story about a Batman villain, stands at $44.1 million in North America and $83 million worldwide. The close weekend race therefore compares films at different stages of their theatrical runs: the documentary is in its third weekend, and Clayface in its second.[1]
Halloween competes for audiences’ time
Ticket-sales tracker Rentrak estimates that films together earned roughly $60 million from Friday through Sunday, compared with $49 million over the previous year’s Halloween weekend. Its analyst Paul Dergarabedian points to costume parties and other holiday activities competing with cinemas for people’s time. Behind the leading pair, the stop-motion fantasy Wildwood took third place with an estimated $7.5 million in its second weekend, a decline of 39 percent from its opening.[1]
